~ Dodmoor House ~ { Winter Wedding }

This wonderful winter wedding at Dodmoor House was just a few weeks before Christmas.

The couple had a fantastic relaxed day ~ a beautiful ceremony flowed effortlessly into a great party in the evening. The bride was well equipped with her personalised UGG boots just in case the wintry weather arrived ~ but it turned out to be a fantastic clear sunny day!

The flowers by Charlotte Ayre were stunning ruby red roses and ivy combination that complimented the theme of the wintry Christmas wedding.

The floaty Wedding Dress is by Brides of Berkhampsted was accompanied by a lovely soft shrug to keep our bride warm.

Dodmoor House is a perfect wedding venue and has just been named as the best we dding venue in the East Midlands 2012 in the National Wedding Industry Awards

{ A Grand Stand } - Wedding at Towcester Racecourse

Spent a gorgeous day with a great couple back in September. We had great weather for this lovely wedding, if not a little windy at the racecourse.

The day started with getting ready at the Brides family home and onto the church in Cosgrove. A lovely service at the church of St Peter and St Paul then onto Towcester Racecourse for the photographs and reception.

The couple had two Bentleys to drive both the Bride and Groom and bridesmaids on the day. The flowers in white and a striking yellow were by Amelia Blooms, Wedding dress was by Shop for Brides and cake was made by a family Aunt.

Family Photographs - Northampton

I had a family shoot with some lovely friends in Northampton, this is the second lot of photographs I have taken of the family and its great to see the children grow up, it was a pleasure to spend the morning with them. Both children loved being in front of the camera and were (at most times) very natural.

The family had mentioned that they wanted some of the images to be converted to canvas for their newly decorated living room and with a 'brown' theme I suggested I could tone the photographs to match the décor. I have finished the range in colour, black and white and brown for them to choose which they prefer.

Also check out the 2008 to 2011 shots............. I hope to see the family again in the following years to watch the children grow : )

{ New Born } Photoshoot

I spent a lovely day with a 3 week old baby and managed to capture a whole range of pouts, smiles and yawns.... here are just a few.

Summer Wedding { Farthingstone }

This summer I spent a lovely day at the wedding of Rosie and Dave. We started the day at the Holy Cross, Pattishall and the bell ringing and choir made the ceremony very special. Despite torrential rain outside during the ceremony it stopped almost as soon as we made our way out for photographs - someone must have said a prayer!!

Onwards to the reception and the quaint Joy Mead Memorial gardens where a marquee was beautifully decked with flowers. The flower decorations and bouquets I must mention, these were created by friends of the family and were as professional as any I have ever seen - beautiful.

Again we had a few showers between the sunshine and it all worked beautifully with group shots captured the guest flowed into the marquee for a delicious wedding breakfast.

The cake (also made by a friend) was cut in style.

{ Rushton Hall } Wedding

I was delighted to be second photographer with my friend and fellow photographer Christina Savage. We seem to be able to read each other during the day to make sure we have full coverage of the wedding. Lauren and Simon's wedding was a picturesque affair with the lovely St James the Great Church in Hanslope for the ceremony and the grand Rushton Hall in Northamptonshire as the reception venue.

The couple had a surprise for their guests in the evening where pretend waiters and servers were actually operatic and show-tune singers. After dessert the trio had a little act made up and burst into song..... the guests were amazed and all up and dancing in no time, singing along!

{ Baby Girl } - Family photoshoot

Friends of ours have just had a gorgeous baby girl, they wanted some family photographs to capture their first born.... its such a special time and it goes far too quickly. Take time to capture your family, I love the way that photography prompts a memory, they are there to cherish x

I also had fun making up some storyboard pictures - simply take a multiple aperture frame and take pictures to capture all the details

{ Newborn } - 10 day old baby Connor

Having my own little one has inspired me to want to take more newborn photography sessions. Here is a little 10 day old - Connor Luke, he managed to be pretty much awake through the entire session only falling to sleep just as we were finishing. Its great to get some shots of babies with their eyes open but it makes for a much harder session as they are a tad more difficult to pose! also one eye open is not a good look!

He was a real cutie and had lovely newborn skin which always looks fantastic in photographs.

Engagement Shoot - { Wonderful Wet Weather }

Would anyone looking at these photographs believe that its the middle of July - I suppose if they are British then they won't be surprised!!

It was forecast for rain and we got a lot of it, but work with your conditions and you can come up with some creative shots, be prepared with raincoats and umbrellas!

My couple had a great time and got into the photoshoot as we moved to our second location. I was able to shoot fully covered most of the time or I braved it with camera in one hand and brolly in the other, its not as easy as it sounds!!

A great couple and I wish them well for their wedding day in August and pray for better weather!

{ Newborn } - 13 day old baby

I recently did a photoshoot with a gorgeous 13 day old baby, its so much easier with two photographers with newborns as posing and lighting is so important. With my friend and fellow photographer Christina Savage we were able to try out some new posing and backgrounds for this photoshoot.

What always pleases me is looking at other photographers version of the same subject - I love the fact that with the same baby, same lighting and same cameras - we can come up with very different results. This is why I think it is so important when clients come to choose a photographer that you do like 'their' style.

Commercial Photography { Northlights Dental}

I occasionally take on commercial work, its different to portraits and wedding as you need to completely understand your customers requirements as generally there is a sole purpose for requiring 'stock photographs'.

Northlight Dental based in Aspley Guise were no exception. Dr Sunil Passan owner of Northlight Dental required photographs to show off the revamped new surgery.

The redesign was undertaken by Sarah Barnes from Ivy House Interior, who I have worked with on other projects. The new surgery looks fantastic and photographs were taken for the surgery to promote a new brochure and website.

Summer Fete { Vintage Wedding }

Whilst currently on maternity leave from my photography business I had a good friends wedding to attend. I debated leaving my camera at home as to not get tempted into taking lots of shots and not spending time just 'being a guest' and also looking after my 2 1/2 week old baby....... I just couldn't do it though, the camera was packed in my small kit bag with my additional zoom lens hidden away in my baby changing bag, cushioned by nappies and muslin! - not my usual style!

I am so glad I did take my camera, I did get friends asking my why I had taken my camera when I am supposed to not be working - but to me you see its not just 'work' its my hobby, my passion.... I would have been more frustrated if I had seen all the lovely shots in my head and not been able to capture them.

Peggy and Jay had a fantastic day, family orientated and lots of attention to detail. Yes I enjoyed myself as a guest but I also enjoyed being able to capture all the special moments for a close friend.

Here are some shots from the day....... the ceremony was at Towcester registry office with a reception at York House - Stony Stratford with catering and styling at the reception by the fantastic Maryanne from Jam and Tea who made the most fantastic cakes mmmmmm........

I am fortunate to work with some great professionals when I photograph clients weddings. Last year I met a lovely Bridal beauty therapist - Maria Canning from Tilly Rose who offers Bridal make-up & pre-wedding packages in/around Stratford upon Avon and the Cotswolds.

I was photographing Angela and Lee's Wedding and managed to help out capturing some shots of Maria at work and the end 'Make up' results.

Virginia Water ~ {Behind the Scenes}

I wanted to share a few shots from behind the scenes at my Virginia Water shoot from the 20th March.......

Just so you see what sort of predicaments we photographers get into to get a shot!!! all done, on this occasion with a public audience, who wondered who all these photographers were!!!

This should show however that its all about your position and available light to capture a cracking shot - not necessarily the kit you own... so how about this spring you all get out there and capture your family photographs... all you need is a park and some semi willing models!!!

There is always one who gets into the most strangest positions!!!

My Mother ~ {Mothers Day}

Its Mothers day this Sunday - Its not until I became a mother myself that I understood the 'unconditional thing', I know people always go on about it when you have children, but I now 'truly' get it!

I see my mum now in a totally different light and am now understanding how much of her life she has given up to me and my brother and how selfless and committed she has been throughout my life. I understand the feeling of wanting to take all the anguish, pitfalls and low points of your childs life and make them better or do it for them..... This past year its been tough for us as a family and I know that my Mum would do anything to take it all away if she had extra 'magic super powers'.... sometimes I think she does however and she is a 'supermum' to me anyway.

I then wanted to find some photographs of me and my mum throughout the years and although I found some I did not find the masses that I thought I would have...... I make it my resolution this year to take the time to have some 'moments' with my mum and also make sure I hand the camera over to others so my son has more with his mummy and him too!!!! I am not great in front of the camera I would much rather be behind it, but am thinking that my son will not care if I have not 'done my hair and make up' or notice the onset of crows feet in many years to come!! - at least I hope not!

So I challenge you all... get your cameras out and get in the shot with your children.... they will thank you for it in the future.

Baby Portrait shoot ~ {NCT Group session}

I had the enjoyable job of photographing a first time baby NCT Group locally. I have always been a big supporter of NCT groups since having my first in 2007. The NCT is a great help to new mums who just want solid information and help with the first years of their children's lives - in fact some of the mums I have met over the years are now lifetime friends!

This group the babies were all between 3 and 5 months which is a great time for me as all babies are still fairly stationary!!! once the crawling starts thats when the photographic fun begins!

So after an afternoon of funny faces, songs and entertaining toys - yes that will be from the parents, we had a great set of shots for all the families.

Its a great gathering and a fun shoot with groups like these, so if you are a group of mums who regularly meet up, why not book a session!

Reeds, Leaves and Shoots - {Virginia Water Shoot Swap}

I spent an amazing day with fellow photographers at Virginia Water in Surrey last Sunday. It was a 'Shoot swap' organised by the brilliant Juliet from Sugar and Spice Photography where 30+ photographers of all differing skills and styles got together and shot each other (not in the gunslinging sense!).

The backdrops were great and the light was awesome, I think we all took something away from the day either in technical skills, friendships or posing ideas. I must admit I am not particularly happy being on the other side of the lens but its a great experience to fully understand how my clients must feel. I learnt a great deal from the day and can't wait to do it again.

One of my favorite sites was Shenley Church End nursery where the girls from Forest School joined me and the children outside. It was such fun and the children loved it, even on a slightly chilly Autumn day.

This is my last post for a while with Acorn Childcare, however a new site has been opened at Milton Keynes - The Willows and hope to visit and take some photographs once its established itself.

Acorn Childcare - Part 2 - Brafield on the Green

Part 2 of the Acorn Childcare photographs - It's hard as a creative photographer to shoot commercial work sometimes, but with children I think its made a lot easier, they tend not to play up to the camera after a while and just enjoy playing. You have to think differently when tasked with a brief of photographs for commercial use as you need to get a range of key activities which your client can then tell their story with.
Also you have the challenge of parental consent - this makes group photographs a little trickier.

I am pleased with how the group of photographs have turned out - here are just a selection which I hope shows a flavour of Brafield nursery.

Acorn Childcare - Part 1 - Abbeys in Bletchley

I had the pleasure of working with Acorn Childcare in the Autumn. Acorn Childcare runs 8 nurseries, out-of-school care and crèches in the Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire area. Acorn Childcare required photographs which they could use in future publications, on the internet and for promotions, I was happy to work with them at all their sites.

I captured both children, premises and staff portraits and would like to share with you some of the photographs from each site. The sites all differed in size and atmosphere but the dedication of the staff and high quality of care was consistent throughout.

I also enjoyed meeting the girls who run Forest School and Andy from Mini Strikers who were visiting a couple of sites - Photographs to come.

Landscape Gardens - Family portraits and a 1st Birthday

Last September I was delighted to photograph this cute little girl days after her 1st Birthday. The family and I decided on Stowe Landscape Gardens as the backdrop for our photoshoot. Not the sunniest of days but with such a great background it was not going to be a problem.
Our little one was on good form with smiles plentiful and food and toys on hand when she got a little bored with being the star of the show.
We had a fun time and I think it shows......

Woburn Sands Woods - Family Portrait session

Earlier this year when the weather was a bit 'iffy' I had a family portrait session, with horrible grey cloudy sky and a bit of damp we set out to capture a family day out at the woods. Its always a great idea in these sorts of weather conditions to have a plan where minimum sky appears in the photographs as its pretty uninteresting!!! - the answer is to find a great wooded backdrop so you don't even miss a bit of sky.

The kids loved it... wellies and waterproofs on we headed to Woburn Sands Woods which is a lovely area covered in great walks and trails.

Wedding at The Lime Trees, Northampton

On the 9th October I photographed an afternoon wedding at The Lime Trees in Northampton. The small boutique hotel was a lovely setting with cute outside space for some lovely photos.

The Dress was from Donna Salado in Northampton and the wedding colour theme was baby pink, White and grey.

Cake was made by Hockleys Cakes in Northampton and flowers by Florabunda also in Northampton

The tables were beautiful with the favours of 'Cards' for the boys and a 'butterfly' for the girls.

Christine & Jon - Wedding at Quorn Grange, Quorn

Well, I have not posted for ages, not because I have not had anything to show, but because I have been too busy to add anything! This is a good thing though!

Christine and Jon's wedding was back in September and was a brilliantly hot sunny day, which was ideal as they had wanted to get married in the gardens of Quorn Grange. The ceremony was in the garden in the picturesque pergola with reception drinks on the lawns.

Followed by wedding breakfast and dancing with music from Dirty Carpet

Lee & Angela - Billesley Manor

I am pleased to be able to finally share with you the photographs of Lee and Angela's wedding day on the 10th September.

The wedding was at Billesley Manor near Stratford upon Avon, the day was relaxed and intimate with only 40 wedding guests.

We had lovely sunshine for most of the morning but then mother nature decided to send in a little rain! so we took the group shots in the short gap of good weather. This certainly did not dampen the day and it was topped off with wedding breakfast, dancing and many more evening guests.

I make no apology for the amount of photographs I simply could not cut them down at all, there were so many beautiful shots. I do hope you all enjoy them and I would love any comments........

I spent a very enjoyable day photographing Ian and Alison's wedding at Whittlebury Park. This was made more memorable by the fact that 6 years ago I also had my wedding reception at Whittlebury. It was a great day, the weather held off and we had sunshine.

The bridesmaids looked stunning in sapphire set off with Bright yellow posies. The flowers by Rita Hopcraft at Everdon were beautiful. Alison's dress is from Camellia Bridal in Northampton and included a lovely delicate lace bolero.

Positively Professional Pianist!

I photographed a recent wedding at Whittlebury Park and was delighted to meet the very suave Lincoln Noel. Lincoln is the resident Pianist at Whittlebury and also doubles as Toastmaster at the ceremony. Here are some pictures of the man himself at work.

I photograph many weddings and its always an honour to photograph a really good friend's wedding. I have known Angela for 6 years and worked with her for many of them. When she asked me to photograph her wedding to the lovely Lee I did not hesitate.

The wedding was at Billesley Manor near Stratford upon Avon, the day was relaxed and intimate with only 40 wedding guests.

Finally ...... work out how to use Blogger and solve its frustrating image quality problem!!!

I have been very frustrated by blogger image quality and for many months and been preparing to jump ship to wordpress to gain a higher quality image! After a lot of Googling I have finally solved my problem! Yippieeeee.... was getting very frustrated in taking beautifully sharp images, taking time processing to then have Blogger ruin all my efforts.

I hope you will take a look at my recent blog 'Sneek peek - Quorn Grange' and notice how much sharper the image is compared to the previous posts.......

I now have a new string to my bow..... HTML coding, who would have thought!! can't say I'm a pro yet but relieved to finally get the answer.

Here's to many more sharp images of my beautiful clients - weddings and portraits. I now hope I can do them justice in showing there fantastic images off!

I had the pleasure of being asked to assist with a photoshoot at the stunning Auberge du Lac in Brocket Hall alongside the lovely Tamara Kusminski.

I met Tamara on my recent visit to Bristol with the The Photography Parlour. The photoshoot was for the newly crowned Miss Hertfordshire - Amy Green. Amy had won the photoshoot with Tamara by gaining the title of Miss Hertfordshire 2010. Tamara wanted some behind the scenes shots of how the day went.

I hope you take a look at the selection of shots and can see how much fun and work goes into a set up, lighting and composition.

The first set of photographs were to capture natural portraits for Amy to use for her commercial portfolio.

I was pleased to be asked to photograph my cousins wedding in August and happily said 'yes please'. A great couple had a wonderful day, the sun shone and family and friends enjoyed the ceremony in the gardens of Greenwoods Hotel . The beautiful flowers for the day were supplied by Mandy Boley - Florist tel 07876636552

The reception was a delightful buffet and we all had drinks on the terrace before dancing to a live band.

This way they understand how we will work and can feel comfortable with my directions - to be honest most couples it comes very naturally and little intervention is required. Hothorpe Hall Wedding

I had a beautiful day at Hothorpe Hall in Leicestershire a few weeks ago where I was a second shooter with Arabella Carter-Johnson who works with Colour White.

The house was beautiful and I was there early to capture the Groom, Best Man and Ushers before the big day. We had beautiful sunshine and the run of the whole house. I joined Arabella for the ceremony then we both helped organise a rather large (150+) group shot within the gardens. Arabella then took the Bride and Groom off for some gorgeous photographs whilst I was happy capturing the goings on with the guests.

Being a 2nd Shooter at a wedding - if any photographer gets the chance to do this at times I think it is great, it generally gives you the opportunity to spend time with the Groom, Best Man and Ushers. You get a different feel from a wedding when you are with the men....... The ones I have been fortunate to do so far have all been great fun.

This wedding, I was 2nd to Christina Savage who is a good friend and fellow photographer. I have shot with Christina before and its always a great day, you get to chat to someone during the day, so for a photographer its a bonus!!

The wedding was in Badby where I met the groom at the Maltsters Inn and then onto St Mary the Virgin in the village. It was a really hot day and we both melted a bit, especially when you are running around frantically capturing your shots!

Looking back at the day I was amazed at how even though, as a group of 30+ photographers with only 6 models and roughly the same locations we all managed to come up with very different photographs. Mellow Yellow...................

I am no good in front of the camera...... but decided to bite the bullet and get some family shots whilst the sun was shining and the fields of rapeseed were golden. I shot a few then passed the camera to the husband, set up the correct settings, told him how to compose and which button to press to capture, even dusted off my Grandad's classic vintage 'Slik' tripod!!! Struggled with the yellow cast that ends up on faces but that's what you get when stood in a field of yellow!!!!

I spoke to the groom, Marc on Tuesday and they were planning to fly off abroad for their big day....... but mother nature got in the way and they found themselves grounded. Marc and Laura however wanted their day to go ahead as planned and had the daunting and chaotic challenge of organising the wedding in the UK within a week. I am delighted to say that they both achieved this and on the Friday the wedding went without a hitch! The beautiful modern location of the Crowne Plaza in Marlow made a great backdrop to some stunning photographs. A great, happy couple, I am pleased it went so well for them.......

I was approached by a client who is entering into the world of Toastmasters. Peter will be taking bookings for attending weddings and private affairs as 'Master of Ceremonies'. You know what it’s like when you were at school and one person had the latest, up to date, expensive looking trainers and you secretly coveted them and wanted some yourself..... you think they looked well cool in their pink Nike Air with the tongue sticking out and no sign of any laces ..... Same sort of thing but I’m in my 30’s, I get lens envy..... I’ll be out somewhere and spot someone with a big old camera and a fantastic zoom lens.... you may have seen them (to all you non photographers they are the big white/grey ones). I am secretly investigating my next purchase watch this space....

In the mean time I have treated myself to another lens to add to my collection it’s a simple wide-angle affair ideal for my wedding shoots. Still getting to grips with the slight fish eye appearance of some shots.
