I feel so lucky, my Husband works for AB Inbev who sell Stella Artois who happen to be one of the main sponsors of Cannes film festival.
He was taking a group of Greene King customers who had won an incentive and were whisked away to Cannes! I happen to have been asked a couple of weeks earlier to join him, after sprinting round trying to find an evening dress, we were off to France.
Cannes is amazing anyway but during the festival it takes on a new persona. You can feel the money in the place, fine dining, fancy cars, you have to keep an eye out all the time for anyone famous who may just happen to be wandering around.
Our hotel was the 5* Majestic which is right opposite the main red carpet entrance, so we had many people staying in the hotel like Kylie, Paris Hilton, Kristen Stewart and Ronan Keating to name but a few.
After the first day wining and dining, with many a glass of Stella Artois and a chance meeting with Alec Baldwin in the S.Pellegrino bar, we decided to go and take in the nights proceedings on the red carpet. We had tickets for the next nights film so wanted to see what it was all about.
It was Brad Pitts premier of 'Killing Them Softly' and people started filling the 2300 seater cinema from 5ish onwards. Brad turned up just before 7.15 it was an electric atmosphere.
That evening after a sumptuous 6 course meal at the hotel, we had VIP passes to the 60's themed Stella Artois Cannes Cinema Club. This is an amazing, intriguing place with lots of funky rooms with Jazz, and dance plus lots of fun artefacts just laying around to play with, it was a late night.
The day of our red carpet experience started with a huge champagne breakfast followed later by a bistro bar lunch at Le Voilier.
After Lunch the girls in the party decided we needed to go and start getting ready for the premier and left the men in the Hotel's vodka pier on the beach.
After a couple of hours to get ready we all headed to the red carpet for the premier of our film which was 'On the Road' at 7.00. We were all so nervous, its quite intimidating with all the press and everyone in tux and evening dress.
Then we were on the carpet, It was fantastic, an experience I will never forget. Just behind us was Robert Patterson and he was sat just below us in the cinema. Then the cast arrived and we all sat down to the film in the largest, plushest seats I have ever been in for a cinema.
Being a photographer, I had to take my large camera and lenses with me on this trip, how could I not, however for the red carpet I had to be satisfied with my little Panasonic and iphone.
After the film we had another amazing meal at Hotel Gray D'Albion, with fantastic food and magnificent macaroon dessert!
An amazing experience, totally different to my normal family life but all the same fantastic to be able to be a part of it.
Wow, you had me totally captivated the whole way through that post. What an amazing opportunity! Your photos are fabulous (of course) and you look stunning in every outfit x
